Ninja Assassin

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

Ninja Assassin was probably the best action flick I’ve seen. The movie’s story itself was meh and really leaves a lot open (sequel?), but dang is the action really detailed! I’m sure if they made another movie the action could be even better. I’ve never seen so many leg decapitations. I watched a guy stab himself in the face through his neck w/ a curved dagger. So awesome.

I’m not saying the movie’s amazing, but in terms of action, it was better than most anything on the market. If future movies build off of this kind of premise, then those movies will wind up being some of the better action movies of our time.

Some of the really Japanese parts of the movie were a fantastic tribute to ninja mythology. I only hope that if there is a sequel, it doesn’t become a cash-in as the storyline could be easily expanded and less conspiratorial. The female lead in the movie reminded me of Chris Trucker and Michael Jackson combined in how she looked and spoke. I think the coolest part was the very beginning watching everyone die; the rest of the movie was far too dark to really see as much of what was going on.

Finishing the Cube trilogy

Monday, June 29th, 2009

I don’t know if there’s any intent to make more of these movies, but they all seem to be extremely low-budget films with Cube Zero, the third movie, having the highest budget.

These psychological and frightening movies are really something people need to watch. The technology changes in both the companies and the movies themselves. It seems like the movies are designed in a way to fit the budget, not to convey the message. That’s a good thing though since the limits imposed on the filmmakers really help in moving the plot over the action and really leaving most of the story in our own minds rather than having them spoon fed.

I watched the first one in 2007 I believe. It shows up in my system as sometime, I think in October, of 2007 along with the other two movies which I didn’t watch until yesterday and today. They really grip you in and make you want to watch more. It seems like the movies are a lot shorter than they really are too, but this is the kind of awesomeness which is similar to the movie Primer. I think there would be two or three more movies in this series to finish it off, but I don’t see anything about a continuation which is really bothersome considering how much I liked these movies.

The mathematics of it all is also quite astounding as is the troublesome government and strange spending of tax dollars. I’m always saddened by the endings though and most of the movies have the same premise and same way of moving along the story that really makes each one seem very much like the others. I’ve noticed the movies seem to move along faster and faster because having seen the previous one(s) makes showing the same thing again in a new one less useful; thus, the creators leave that out and give you something else to watch while most of that stuff is happening. Still, judging by the monetary constraints, there probably won’t be anymore of these because there probably isn’t enough funding to accomplish making more with the props and people needed to produce another.

Movies and Batman

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

I saw The Dark Knight just now. It’s freakin’ awesome. Everything about it’s good. I felt like the cost of a movie is high enough, but you pay the theater to tell Hollywood what you want. I told Hollywood I wanted Batman. I feel like I’m in the Athlon XP era and just bought one of those processors. See, movie theaters let you choose. They give you a flat rate, and you choose how you spend on that. The Dark Knight is where you choose to get more for your money. Not only do you get a quality movie, but you get one not bounded by a time-limit. It is full and complete with the best special effects I’ve seen (think burns, and you’ll know what I mean). Now, the chopper that gets blown up was totally cg and easy to see it was cg. It’s worth a watch, clearly should be R rated and not PG-13 (stupid MPAA sucks…), and is NOT for my grandma to see.

Paintball & Laser Tag

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

I’m watching this trailer on paintball and the way they are playing and moving looks like what I used to do when playing Laser Tag. Pretty darn awesome! Man, I wish I was able to go to tournaments that year… I was always in the top-three and played once a week, but I never was one to do competitions on my own rather than w/ a group of people.

It’s by the team Dynasty called War of Attrition.

New Movies

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

Watching a horror movie by myself. I dunno how I even came across this trilogy, but I somehow have it on my PC. I’m watching Cube. Currently I’m on the first movie which came out in 1997, but then the other two came out in 2002 and 2004 respectively. Gonna be pretty schweet!

18 Minutes in, and I’m wonderin’ what’s goin’ on.

Gotta remember to keep tabs on myself

Friday, February 9th, 2007

So Mark’s Xanga had this video on it. I don’t want to give it away, but I forgot to not cry so basically I had some tears fall out, and I was like “oh crud, but it’s so sad”. I didn’t have many tears fall out, but I got close to crying. Next time I have to listen to myself so I can’t prevent that stuff from happening. Hmm…

I posted a link to the video here. Be very cautious.

Good James Bond Movie = New Spies

Monday, December 4th, 2006

Since I actually enjoyed the new James Bond movie so much, I decided to watch an anime called 009-1. I figured it’d be a secret agent spy thingy and it is. Actually, it’s got all the gadgets and stuff the newest James Bond movie didn’t have (which isn’t a bad thing at all).

A summary of it from AnimeNFO.com: This is another future that the Cold War has continued for 140 years.
The earth is divided into two worlds, the East Block and the West
Block. Under the false peace keeps its balance by the meanance of
nuclear, two worlds continued their war.

I think that kinda makes sense right? It’s just really neat so far. I dunno if I’ll like it, but it’s set in the style of Galaxy Railways which is set in the style of the old skool animes. I’m not talkin’ about 80s anime w/ big hair though, it’s something more refined.

If you watch it, you’ll see what I’m talking about. It’s a great compliment anime to having seen James Bond. It’s one film I do recommend you seeing.
