Harmonica Jazz Essentials

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Today I bought the Harmonica Jazz Essentials album from Amazon MP3 Download which contains 24 songs. I haven’t used Amazon’s digital download service before because I assumed the songs were DRM infected. Well a little trip up, and I realize that I’ve never seen a DRM infected MP3. So I did my research and Amazon’s MP3s are normal audio files that I know and love. It didn’t take me more than a few seconds to then get a hold of their downloader. Now time to back up all of this music since I only get it once. I still think it was fantastic deal. For $8 I got 24 old-time harmonica songs. Awesome!

Some things really make me want to dance

Monday, December 15th, 2008

And it’s not as much wanting to dance as wanting to know how so I can, ha ha ha. I tried it on the stairs on the way up to get my mood and just about killed myself but it was so fun! Hee hee! Stormy Black Black Mix from some kinda King of Fighters DANCE! album I found on my hard drive is one of those songs. I dunno where or how I got a hold of this, but I’m hoping it’s an indi song and not something I ripped off of a PS2 disk I had.

Bluegrass and Me

Monday, October 27th, 2008

So does anyone else I know like bluegrass? Maybe they’d listen to it but aren’t as active about it as I would be. I need to get a hold of more of it. I really really like bluegrass, but who knows how much. I seem to associate bluegrass strictly with Bela Fleck and some other random things like the song Daddy Got Bass and some Bluegrass Student Union stuff; although, they’re a barbershop group so it’s a bit different but still Bluegrass all the same.

I found a love for it senior year of high school and haven’t really put it down ever since. I wish I could get involved with it more, but I don’t know anyone else that’s remotely interested in it. I’m sure if you saw me drivin’ down the road playing some bluegrass and jammin’ out you’d be saying to yourself “what the heck is wrong w/ this guy?” Well let’s hope I find someone interested in the genre soon!

Tetsuwan Birdy & Tetsuwan Birdy DECODE completed

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

It was neat to watch both of these one after another because they seemed like two different shows. It was like watching various Tenchi Muyo! shows in a way. I would really say this is more like Kiddy Grade in the way the characters look but the animation was like Kure-nai. Very flowing and crazy.

Music Collection Growing

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Since there’s a lot of awesome free music out there, I’ve been growing my music collection like crazy, but prior to losing my HDD, I had 40GB. Now that I’ve combined that data with the stuff I got in the 9 months I didn’t have the data I have a total of 63.80GB of music files and 15083 songs. When i had 40GB, I didn’t even had only a bit over 9000 songs so what happened? Who knows. I guess 6000 songs can equal up to ~14GB of data, heh.

So now I have a bunch of music far more than most that I know, and it’s all stuff I’d actually like listening to :) . Go me.

After all this time

Friday, October 26th, 2007

After all of this time, I have two things to say.

One is that I’ve finally started work on cleaning up my music collection again. Too bad I have a bunch of songs where there’s an album it came from, I just happen to only have one song from the album. I dunno if I wanna keep the folders for the albums or just take out the ones w/ only one song and put them into the general folder. Who knows, this is tricky!

Some of them, I don’t really have info for either so I’m curious as to what’ll happen when I’m done going through all 9500+. I’m lucky to find a few full albums here and there, but it’s difficult when things are changing. I’m trying to catch as many as I can right now, but there’s always the possibility that after I get through this list, there will be more albums needing my attention much higher up in the library.

Oh yeah, I have a lot of .wma files. I need to convert those over to MP3 and grab the album info on them.

The other one is that I e-mail an old friend of mine I haven’t spoken to in a long time the other day. We’re back to being friends again I guess. I dunno, it made me very happy, that’s for sure. I’ll see what happens. This is one of those wait and watch things as most of the stuff is this year. That’s just probably from my cinicism, but either way, I’m going to make the best of what I’ve got these days.

Oh! Mark and I are gonna start playing the Wii Voting channel again if I can get home early enough to have time to call ‘im up.

Too Much Music?

Friday, October 19th, 2007

A year ago, I remember having ~30GB of music on my PC. Apparently, during a a large search for new music to put on my phone, I found that I had not only 40GB of music, but a bunch of unorganized stuff. As a kid, I was such and idiot. I think I might’ve screwed up my entire collection of music because I started ripping CDs and downloading music illegally when I was in 6th grade (1998-99) when you could just go to a random website and pick up some new MP3s to add to your collection. I can even name you the first three I downloaded because I remember calling up mom on the cell phone (remember, we had dial-up) and telling her the good news that I was gonna save her tons of money because she didn’t have to buy music anymore.

What an idiot I was! I thought it was legal. Like, I thought people were idiots who stupidly paid $16-17 for an album that came with 12 songs when I could put 20-22 songs on a CD and the CD cost me a dollar to burn, and all I had to do was setup a bunch of MP3s to download and then go play some football outside for a couple hours with some periodic checking to make sure the connection didn’t break. Either way, I had methods of pausing downloads so I could have like 20 of them lined up and ready to go, and it’d even shutdown the PC (and the internet usage) when it was done. Pretty classy.

In my more recent buying spree since last Summer, I have been buying up music like crazy. I hear a good song or group, I buy the album no matter the cost because I am still constantly looking for new music. In going back and looking for songs for my phone, I did a lot of organization and saw all of the old music fads I had. I remember I was, at one point, obsessed with John Williams and even some weird stuff. I found albums Dad had around the house from back when I was even younger and saw the crazy stuff I listened to. Can you believe I was an 8 year old kid listening to some pretty heavy rock and jumpin’ all over the place dancing to it just to piss my parents off because I felt just that cool?

I even listened to a lot of classical music. Mom told me it was good for me so I, the arrogant child I was, wanted to be so much smarter to impress the ladies. That never worked out in the end. Actually, because of the area I live in, that was counterintuitive. The majoirty of girls here were pretty stupid, and I guess it worked out in the end because I kept out of trouble that way. Technically, being a social outcast has its ups. And all of this on a post about my music collection.

The number of songs last year was not even 4000, so somehow I ended up buying enough music to crank out another 10GB and rack the number up to a whopping 9554 songs. Whatever I did, it must’ve been killer. Heck, I forgot I didn’t have all of this music to choose from until just recently. Since it’s on my PC, I always feel like it’s always been here, but at some point in time, I backed up 3 DVDs worth of music which I assumed as all of it. What’s happened since then? Geez. This is a crapload of songs, and I don’t know what I’d do w/o them. If I felt lucky, I would add in the 8GB of songs I have on Stepmania, but I’m not that daring. I think it would ruin the game for me too so whatever I can do to keep myself playing DDR is always a plus. I mean, my life runs around the thing so making the choice between playing a game that keeps me healthy and sociable over having a larger music library becomes much much easier that way.

MIDI Samples of Techno + 5

Friday, October 19th, 2007

When I was at Nick’s house last Tuesday, I decided to buy $300 worth of MIDI samples. I must say, they’re extremely high quality. While I was installing all 5 sample sets (3 vintage sets and 2 techno), I played more of Metroid Prime 3. That inspired me.

Cubase Project 6

Here, you’ll hear what 7 minutes of composing did after listening to Metroid Prime 3. Too bad I don’t have time tonight to work on this a bit more, but it’s kinda neat!

wootcast = me!

Podcast today

Friday, November 17th, 2006

After a fun game of FEAR w/ Race and Robo, Kingdom joined the podcast, and we talked about our society and how the generations have changed. Race is generation X and I’m from Y I believe and then Kingdom and Robo are the 16 and 17 respectively, but they’re both in their senior years, and we were talking about how much has changed. It was really neat. We all agreed that society has been going downhill and such. It was a very nice discussion.

It originally started with me ranting about game prices being the same even if you get no box, DVD, manual, or anything else, and then ranting about how if a game has an M rating, that should be it. I was VERY angry when I found out there were shootings at a couple PS3 launches… That’s TOO many. Drive-by shootings because they couldn’t get their PS3. You know what? That makes me angry, but since we’ve been talking about this stuff, I’ve calmed down a bit more.

Music Stuff

Sunday, October 22nd, 2006

It’s been so long since I’ve actually listened to music. Man, this is amazin’ stuff. It’s really nice to start listening to music with the soundcard I have now too since it has a 24-bit crystalizer. Basically, it takes MP3 and remakes them back into CD quality and does a great job of it. I think it’s even better than CD quality too because CDs are only 16-bit audio and well, this guy can do 24-bit stuff. Makes me feel special. WOW! This music is killer. Man have I been lenient on myself. Well, then again, I have about 3 hours of configuration on my equalizer and then I have all my speakers fine tuned, and I configured WinAmp with DFX and worked about an hour on that. This is hopefully as close as I can get to the perfect listening settings. If not, oh well, I’ll change it again.

Hour Before Dawn Podcast

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

The podcasting had begun with help from my friend Mark as a guest. I think we might just do that where Mark (codename Peraud) will just pop in for some podcasts. I kinda just completely went super awesome podcaster for some reason. It was like, I knew all the right things to say and all the right questions to ask. Yes, I had a few errors, but our first podcast will be a cut and paste job from about 15+ audio clips. I’m working on ones for fast and slow internet connections, and we might just get someone to transcribe the thing for us.

Our biggest problem is gonna be staying on subject which I magically did. I dunno, when I have to, I suddenly turn into someone else like when I taught girls scouts about/how to use computers this summer. It was insane! I think I’ll make a rough outline of how I want the podcast to go, and we’ll make sure we keep it at a max of 30 minutes. We have a good hour and lots more so I’m curious to see if we’re gonna make this one or two podcasts. The fun part will be putting together some blooper clips and some just fun stuff that we really can’t fit into a podcast.

So far, this is what we have in terms of podcasters.

Podcast personel:
Saturn (Me) -> Kansas
Race -> California
Kingdom -> Hawaii
Robo -> New York

Guest:
Peraud (Mark) -> California

I’ve done a significant amount of podcast and webcast research, and I think this’ll be something to listen to once we get it a bit more organized. Race has already registered the name “Hour Before Dawn,” so we have webspace and everything else we need, and we’re ready to go. I hope this really goes well. Race will be the one getting us guest speakers other than me so I’ll have to see how that goes. My friend Mike was part of one of our earlier get-togethers when we were first testing everything, and everything seemed to go smoothly.

Kevin out again,

New composition nearing completion

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

I’ve been lookin’ up the stats for my website, and I should let it start logging downloads, but that’s too much effort right now.

My newest composition is coming along. In a about a minute here I’m gonna upload it. It’s really neat sounding now but also really busy sounding; I don’t care.
