Skype calls through my home phone for free

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

I finally got Skype calling finally working throughout the entire house while still keeping the ability to make normal phone calls. It’s been four days of hard work, but my final plan is so darn configurable. While it’s not completely done, here’s my plan for when it is.

Crazy times on Skype

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Eion and I did some crazy stuff today on Skype. Since I can’t get YouTube to work here on campus in Asheville, he just did a Skype call with me and transferred over the audio directly from the computer and the video from his webcam. It was great!

Not much to say. It’s good, but kinda… meh. Generic in many parts, but it’s artsy for sure. It has themes constantly overlapping each other tied to each level of gunmen evolution and that’s the big thing about it, and it goes back to the very beginning of overcoming your fears and getting out there and doing something with your life. To say the show didn’t get super crazy near the end isn’t just an understatement, it’s a feeling that the person that says that needs to be shot.

It’s good at parts, but it’s definitely not up there w/ the best of the ones I’ve seen, that’s for sure. I was annoyed at all the boobage and fan-service, but that ended about halfway through so I’m glad they matured the show. Maybe that was there just to grab some people in, but it was pushing me away. I was pretty embarrassed to have a pair of boobs constantly bouncing on my monitor while watching this one especially when I was in an airport.

I heard from Mark that it would end very sad and was also told by both Robo and Mark that it was a good series. I can’t say I agree at all. From all the shows I’ve seen, this isn’t high-ranking. Oh well. I’m still glad I watched it as it gave me something to do and something I can talk about with at least a few people.

Thunderbird RSS feeds corrected

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

I just got the first beta to Thunderbird 3 and because of that, I was experimenting with some stuff and doing some cleanup of my RSS feeds. The greatest thing I found out is that you can add multiple feeds to one folder. Now I knew this to a degree, but there are subfolders which, I thought, could only contain one feed. This might be only a change in Thunderbird 3, but it’s quite asounding that all of my feed can be congregated into one group so I only have some 8 or 9 I check but there is a bunch of content contained in each one. Now I can finally expand all the e-mail accounts I have because there won’t be a scroll bar I’ll have to use anymore. Awesome!

Here’s an example. I went from this:

thunderbird_feeds

To this:

thunderbird_feeds2

Why is this such a big deal? I have been trying to limit myself to as few feeds as possible because they take up space in my account area. Well now that I can conglomerate them, then now I have more reason to add a bunch more so long as I’ll be able to devote time to them. YAY!

Hajime no Ippo New Challenger deleted

After the first episode, I really should’ve stopped, but it seemed interesting enough. This anime was a complete waste of my time. I’m done w/ it. Three episodes of this time waster is enough.

I just e-mailed the President (yes, the new one)

Friday, February 6th, 2009

Going to download the latest Weekly Address, I came across something rather peculiar. Yes, an e-mail-the-President system. Of course I wanted to try it out as it so closely resembled my own Contact Page.

I’ll write back if/when I get a response, but I wanted to contribute to this country as a born and raised American citizen so I am doing my part to empower myself using the resources I have been allotted. Since I just watched the 2006 movie “Who Killed the Electric Car“, part of a trio of movies I purchased last week for this undying need to educate myself, I asked a very valiant question about automobiles and the automotive companies. I wanted to make sure that the Obama administration would not fall pray to the car companies. They hold no real power here, the government does. As far as I know, President Obama does not own oil wells and thus, would not fear the advent of electric cars in the market.

The Assault on Reason by Al Gore

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Far be it from me to purchase a book on politics as that knowledge, in my opinion, should be free. But in all respects, what is knowledge? Information is not free, and I shouldn’t put forth the belief that it should be. This is a book written by hand and someone spent a lot of time on it. I will gladly also pay for the voice actor since I purchased the unabridged audio book; at least, this way I will be sure to read it.

I don’t know what it is, but I just keep wanting to further educate myself. It’s not just finding the knowledge as it is moreso just that I’m smarter. I can see that I’ve grown, and I’m learning many things in life. Whilst I still cannot place the center of the need for this drive to learn, I’ll take it as part of my self-learning, the way I’ve spent each day making sure to learn at least one new thing in detail.

Illness be gone!

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Finally am I done with this. No more sickness! I still feel weak a bit and there appears to be a large amount of mucus buildup from who knows what, but I’m alive at least.

I was throwing up all yesterday and then it started to move to the other side, but not completely so I had an interesting experience of stuff coming out both sides. I should’ve gone to the hospital, but I had stuff to do and knew I could work through this myself.
