Nodame Cantabile: Paris Chapter completed

Monday, August 10th, 2009

Just like the previous season, I was laughing loudly at the comedy of the whole thing. The music in this season was much improved from the older one and seems to contain some custom works actually worth listening to on their own. I was left wondering a few times where they picked up some of these amazing recordings.

On the other hand, I was displeased with the poor computer graphics work. This season contains a lot more of it than the previous one and not only is it noticeable, but it is cheap and poorly executed. The movements of the characters are stiff and unacceptable of the music they are playing. I wish there was more oomph in ‘em if anything. It was just completely lost of the feelings and emotion that reside in the expressions of the characters and the music. Still, it was enjoyable for me to watch.

Anime completion postings

I really don’t know why I continue to do these. I always write out lengthy write-ups after each show I finish for the most part, but I detest doing them and really have nothing much I’d like to say. If only for historical purposes, it still seems like a waste.

I watched Armored Trooper VOTOMS: Big Battle yesterday and it made me want to go and watch the 52 episode series from 1983. Other than that, I have nothing to say. Gosh, if not for the fact that I had been doing it, I really would no longer continue these write-ups. I only hope I have some readers that benefit from my annoyances.

Je T’aime

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Whoa! Get this, I wanted to pass that 13 footer when my ex girlfriend was supposed to visit me in April 2008 back when we were dating. I’m watching an anime right now where some of it is in French (Nodame Cantabile: Paris Chapter) and immediately noticed Je T’aime. That is the name of the song I was going to pass for her.

I really tried and tried hard before she came to make sure, by the time she was here, I would pass it. I even got the help of a guy online who’d passed it himself asking about what to do where. I never did pass the song, but the week she was supposed to be here, I got to the very last notes before I failed. The thing is, I feel like such a romantic now; Je T’aime means I love you.

Dennou Coil completed

What do I say about this? Really, what do I say? It’s charming from start to finish, but it gets so serious and a bit out of proportion near to the end. It seems like that was all written in to begin with, but I don’t quite understand how everything connected unless you’re able to travel through time or something it seems like.

The very end of the show was sappy. Compared to everything, the last few seconds were quite sappy. Going into the last episodes, everything was finally explained, and I noticed a lot how characters would tell the story of what’s going on because it’s so foreign you can’t quite possibly expect to figure it out on your own. That did get quite annoying, and it was extremely hard to keep up with.

Another way to look at social matters

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

Thomas Baekdal wrote an article based on a game trailer for EVE Online. The article goes over the split-second choices you can make in life and how those choices resonate in a sandbox, something where one person can make so much of a change just because of a simple proposed yes or no question. To me, Thomas’s strong point is looking at how social changes in our world affect us today.

I think the written article along with the video is quite amazing; a great way to turn an online experience into social stimulus. I immediately figured out the movie was for a game, but it almost seemed like it was created specifically for his article. Too bad this video doesn’t explain war or other aspects of why the factions would be warring in the first place.

Basquash is surprisingly good

Besides this obsession with sex and boobs for the first few episodes, the anime quickly got its act together and started really selling me on the story and the design. I mean, this has a very delicate story even, something I couldn’t imagined from when I began watching it. Really, I’ve become entranced by the anime yet, I’ve reached the end of what’s on TV in Japan. I guess I’ll just have to wait it out for now.

I have a feeling that this anime will end up being something like 26 episodes. At the end of episode 18, I think I’m right, the development will move toward finishing the love story and father/daughter relationship storylines. My assumption is that Rouge forgot who Dan is and since she’s undergoing this treatment, she might end up dying at the end of the match. I don’t know how much of this is going to make sense, but it’s extremely sad to see happen. Then Sela is gonna finally find out her father didn’t kick her mother out and that there was a lot of other stuff going on she was never told just yet.

Bakemonogatari gives up yet another familiar situation

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

While it was drawn out for a much longer period of time, this is a very very familiar conversation I just experienced. Interesting to watch it done by two completely different people. It makes me want to have serious conversations like this again in my life. One of the perks of causing trouble for myself I guess.

“Oh well. I may be over exaggerating it. To put it bluntly, I enjoy talking to you.”
“But we haven’t even talked that much, have we?”
“I guess. So I want to talk with you more. How do I say it… I don’t know if it’s like I’m just trying to make myself like you.”
“I see”
“I don’t mind if you think about it like this. Unluckily, you were fallen for by a crazy virgin so starved for love that she’d fall for anyone who showed a little kindness.”
“I see.”
“Luck wasn’t on your side because of your behavior. If you tell me you want to think about it like a coward, I’m gonna despise you. You shouldn’t make women feel embarrassed.
“I get it, I just don’t really quite accept it at the moment. But, I can I set a condition too? A condition, more like a promise. Don’t ever pretend you can see something you can’t, or that you can’t see something you can. If our viewpoints are inconsistent, let’s talk it over. Promise me.”
“Certainly.”

Bakemonogatari began

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Awwww. This anime is so charming! I really like it and the way it plays out so far since it’s reminiscent of my own times. It’s odd to be on the outside for once looking in at something I already know. By the point in time it makes me wonder how dumb I could’ve been to not see the signs at the time. I guess I partly saw some signs, signs of nothing serious though. Gosh, this drama is played out so well because the girl in it is so incredibly funny. I want to experience a situation like this again because of how fun it is. Seriously, I could do this all day! In fact, I used to do it everyday even into the night. It’s just crazy; one of those games you can only play maybe once or twice in your life.

Escaflowne the Movie completed

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

I was extremely surprised when I saw this movie Thursday morning. The story was the same for the most part but the development moved along much faster than I expected including the love parts. I tended to get along with the characters better in this movie, but didn’t like how Allen wasn’t radiating as much as before. And Princess Millena was just someone completely different. Had I not seen the original TV show, I don’t think the movie would’ve been worth as much to be, but I still think the movie was worth watching.

If anything, comparing to the AIR movie which I refuse to acknowledge having seen, even if only in parts, this movie was awesome. They changed the European themes into Asian ones but had this very American love story going on there where even if the characters only knew each other for an extremely short period of time, love can flourish. Although differing from the series, this movie was worth my time watching. I could almost say it was quaint in relation to the series as a whole if one had that knowledge.
